More Math...
Looks like Anson is being super careful when checking out the capacity of each of these containers. We have worked on Measuring the length of things and now checking out capacity. Remember that when measuring capacity you are trying to find out how much something can hold. Good Luck everyone!

Happy Mother's Day! I hope all our Mothers, Grandmothers and Caregivers enjoyed a special Mother's Day. I was fortunate to see some of my family on that day. I am truly grateful! We had a few more people share some of the crafts they have been keeping busy with. As always thanks for sharing, your smiling faces always brighten my day.
Congratulations Kylee on loosing your first tooth!!! I hope the Tooth Fairy made it to your house.

Hello May,
Thank you once again for all your help in keeping children engaged in learning. If at anytime you need additional resources or help understanding what has been sent home please let me know. I have had a few children who have checked out the activities on See Saw. This is a great option for your child to demonstrate some of their learning.
I see Blake has found one of the crafts sent in the recent package. I also noticed a whole in his smile. I think the Tooth Fairy must be very busy these days! Thanks for sharing your picture!

More from the sharing corner...
This week Emry used some family photos to write about. I bet many of you have photos from fun family vacations, celebrations or just everyday life that you could write about too. I am learning so many new and exciting things about all of you. I also noticed a yummy way to do some estimating in Math. Is that skittles I see in that picture? If so, I wonder if you got to eat them after you were all done your Math job?
Mercedees is busy putting the finishing touches on her family tree. Wow! What a big family!
It's always great to hear from all of you. Don't forget to check out See Saw learning. I have posted some new activities for you to try. I think you will enjoy trying them out.

Today we have homework package #3 available. Please let me know if there is anything you need help with. You will note there is some information on SeeSaw learning, I hope will take the time to check this out. There are lots of great ways for your child to demonstrate their learning. They can take photos, record their voice or add a video. Unlike the blog the pictures will only be seen by me. I will try to post a few activities for children to try.
I just watched a great Science video put out by Mystery Doug. It is all about why birds lay eggs in the Spring. I think you will enjoy it too. Check it out!
I received a couple new photos to share with you. Remember the bread experiment? Well Anson sent me a photo of the final update of the bread before he threw it away. When you look at the picture it certainly reminds you to WASH YOUR HANDS!
Then Mercedees was busy working on her homework and she and her mom were mixing up foot scrub to try out. I love all the different things everyone is trying out.

Happy Earth Day everyone!!! Today is a great opportunity to look around our homes and see how many different ways we can help our planet Earth stay clean and healthy. What are the things you put into the recycle bin? Are there ways you can reuse something instead of throwing into the garage bin? Is there something you can do to reduce the amount of power and water you use each day? Don't forget to check out Mystery Doug. He has a great video on how old the Earth is. I plan to go for a walk around my neighborhood and pick up some of the garbage that has been left. If you are going for a walk make sure an adult is with you so they can ensure what you are picking up is safe. We can all do our part to help out.
Have a great day!

Students hard at work! You can see long and Short A sound sorting. Bennett has cut apart the pictures and sorting them according to the vowel sound he hears. Then you can also see the estimating journal in action. Anson used Lego pieces to estimate in his jar and now he is demonstrating to his big sister how to group them using tens and ones. To stretch his thinking he is generating number sentences to go with his number.

Well I have had several people ask about our bread experiment. Thankfully Anson and his family tried this at home and he got the results we were expecting. His mom used homemade bread and wow look what happened. In our classroom we used store bought bread and we did not get much of a change. This makes me think about how many preservatives are in the store bought bread. Yikes!!!! Thanks for sharing Anson! To see where we got this idea from please google Mystery Doug. He has many cool science activities for you to try.

Hello again everyone,
I have been receiving a lot of messages about all the learning and activities you are doing at home. Well done everyone!!! I love hearing from you and seeing all the pictures you send. This week I am busy preparing some school work for you. I hope you are all remembering to get a little fresh air. Soon we will be able to get our skipping ropes out and continue to practice.
Take Care,
